BEGINNER AND INTERMEDIATE
This course primarily focuses on developing fundamental skills for working with clay on the potter's wheel.
You will learn how to throw basic forms such as cylinders and bowls, and then transform these into mugs and cups by pulling handles. We will also introduce ways to add texture and surface decoration using tools, found objects, and decorating slips, if you’d like to explore that side of making.
As this is a small group workshop, you’ll receive plenty of personal guidance throughout. Whether you’re starting out or looking to refine your technique, the close support helps you build confidence and progress at your own pace. For those with advanced skills, we’re happy to offer direction on more challenging projects and techniques.
The course finishes with a dedicated glazing session. Your glazed pieces will be fired within a week or up to a month, depending on our firing schedule.
Please note that the cost of materials and firing is not included in the course fee. If you'd like to keep any of your pieces, a firing fee will apply based on weight (55p per 100g of clay). Additional charges may apply for larger pieces that require more kiln space—this includes items taller than 25cm or flat pieces over 20cm in diameter.
This course will take place twice a week on Wednesday & Thursday evenings, in the duration of 6 weeks between 15th October and 20th November ‘25. Each session will be held from 6:30PM to 9:00 PM.
